Ja, nun hab ich den Podcast von den Vogonen gehört und dachte ich “goog(e)le” mal nach dieser Liste von 100 Dingen die ein Geek können sollte. Gefunden war es recht schnell. Ein anderer Blogger hat die Liste auch bei sich verankert. Ich werd die Liste hier nochmal aufführen und mit meinen Erlebnissen und Kommentaren versehen.

1. Properly secure a wireless router.
   • Klar hat eigentlich fast jeder mal erledigt.
2. Crack the WEP key on a wireless router.
   • Testweise ausprobiert, aber keine großen Erfolge.
3. Leech Wifi from your neighbor.
   • Schon mal gemacht, aber nicht weiterverraten.
4. Screw with Wifi leeches.
   • Ne, wer bei mir reinkommt ins Netz darf es auch nutzen. Er hat es sich verdient.
5. Setup and use a VPN.
   • Mach ich immer wieder. Ist wichtig in meinen Job.
6. Work from home or a coffee shop as effectively as you do at the office.
   • Das war zu Haus und es geht gut. Passiert auch immer wieder.
7. Wire your own home with Ethernet cable.
   • Done, aber bei mir nicht so professionell. Bei mir liegen 100m WLAN-Kabel

   • Meine Webcam hat nen schlechtes Bild von der Straße geliefert vor der Haustür, aber die läuft im Moment nicht mehr.

   • Zum testen ausprobiert mit 3proxy aufm iPhone 3GS

    • Zu Hause ist es halt am schönsten.

    • Das macht der Virenscanner bei mir.

    • Gut, bei mir ist es ein TV, gehackte XBOX, eine Wii und ein lüfterloser Core2Duo, der Mediacenter spielt.

    • Klar. Es ist die Pronto 9400 von Philips. Man kann das ganze Haus steuern, wenn das Kleingeld fürs Zubehör da ist.

    • Zählt das ausbauen eines Infrarot Senders beim Sendo X auch? Ich hoffe doch, da man es komplett zerlegen muss für den Krams.

    • Logisch, immer wieder wenn ein neuer Rechner da ist.

    • Das ist auch kein Problem. Einige exotischere Teile sind da schon schwerer.

    • Damals einen Virus mit einen Batch den ich unter 4DOS geschrieben hab. Das ist somit ein Antivirus in Batchsprache gewesen. Funktionierte toll.

    • Hab ich mal, brauch ich selten sowas. Nicht nötig mit virtuellen Rechnern.

    • Passiert immer, wenn ich BIOS Updates einspiel.

Nun die Zusammenfassung: Ich hab die Punke mal durchgezählt, die ich alle machen kann oder schon mal gemacht hab. Es sind 53 Punkte, womit wohl bewiesen wär: Ich bin wohl ein Geek. Es gibt andere Leute in meinen Umkreis die behaupten ein Geek zu sein, aber ich glaub die schaffen nicht mal die Hälfte von meiner Liste. Wieviel Punkte könnt ihr abhacken?
